Worklog Fields
Worklog Fields let you add custom metadata fields to the Log Time form, enabling teams to capture additional context alongside each time entry.
What Are Worklog Fields?
By default, when a user logs time they fill in:
- Jira Issue
- Time Spent
- Date
- Description (optional)
- Time Category (if configured)
- Billing Account (if configured)
Worklog Fields extend this form with custom fields your organisation defines - for example:
- Client name
- Work item type (billable / non-billable)
- Cost centre code
- Project phase

Editing and Deleting Fields
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Edit | Click the Edit (pencil) icon → modify → Save |
| Delete | Click the Delete (trash) icon → Confirm |
Deleting a field removes it from the Log Time form but does not delete historical worklog data that used this field.
Filtering and Grouping by Worklog Fields
Once configured, custom worklog fields appear as filter and group-by options in:
- My Timesheet
- Timesheet and Reporting (Report Builder)
- Capacity Report
Tips
- Keep the number of required fields low - too many mandatory fields discourage accurate time logging
- Use Dropdown fields for fields with a controlled vocabulary to ensure clean, filterable data
- Discuss field requirements with your finance and HR teams before creating billing- or HR-related fields
