Backlog Table

The Backlog Table is a sortable, filterable table with inline-editable scoring metrics, giving your team a structured way to quantitatively rank and prioritise Jira backlog items.

Opening the Backlog Table

Backlog Prioritization → Backlog Table

Initial Setup

  1. Click Select Project → choose your Jira project
  2. Click Choose Scoring Template → select a template (ICE, RICE, WSJF, Value vs. Effort, or custom)
  3. Click Apply - the table loads with all open issues

Table Layout

Scoring MetricsOne column per metric defined in the template (e.g., Impact, Confidence, Ease)

Scoring Issues Inline

  1. Click any metric cell (e.g., the "Impact" cell for an issue)
  2. Edit inline - input type depends on the metric:
    • Number field - type a value
    • Dropdown - select from predefined options
    • Star rating - click stars (1–5)
    • Effort scale - select XS / S / M / L / XL
  3. Click away or press Enter - the Score column recalculates instantly and saves automatically

Sorting

  • Click any column header to sort ascending/descending
  • Default sort: Score descending (highest priority first)
  • Multi-column sort: hold Shift and click a second column

Exporting

  • Click Export → CSV to download the full backlog table including scores
  • The export includes all visible columns and their current values

Tips

  • Score all issues in one session for consistency - mixing fresh and stale scores skews the ranking
  • Use the same scoring template across all sprints for a comparable historical record
  • Sort by Score descending just before sprint planning to identify your top candidates
