Pivot Table Gadget

Display Types & Heatmaps

Choose how to visualize the pivot data. The same row/column/aggregation setup can be shown as a table, a heatmap, or a chart.

All 9 Display Types

Display TypeDescriptionBest For
TableClean data grid with row/column headersExact numbers, large datasets
Table HeatmapEntire table color-coded by valueQuickly spotting high/low values across the whole matrix
Table Row HeatmapEach row independently color-codedComparing values within each row
Table Column HeatmapEach column independently color-codedComparing values within each column
Column ChartVertical bar chart from the pivot dataComparing categories visually
Bar ChartHorizontal bar chartLong category names that would overflow vertical bars
Line ChartLine series from the pivot dataTrend comparison across multiple series
Stacked Area ChartStacked area chartCumulative composition over time or categories
Pie ChartPie from the first pivot dimensionProportion breakdown of a single dimension

Heatmap Color Schemes

In heatmap display types, choose the base color that fits the meaning of your data:

ColorBest For
RedRisk-oriented reports where more = worse (e.g., open bugs per component)
BlueNeutral, general-purpose comparisons
GreenPositive metrics where more = better (e.g., resolved issues per sprint)
GreyNeutral comparisons where color should not imply good or bad

The shade intensity scales automatically - the lowest value in the dataset gets the lightest shade and the highest gets the darkest. This happens per table, per row, or per column depending on the heatmap type you choose.

Switching Display Types

You can change the display type at any time without reconfiguring your fields or aggregation. The same data renders in the new format instantly in the live preview.
