FAQs
General
What is the Time, Capacity, Prioritization & PPM Suite? A Jira Cloud app that combines four modules: Time Tracking & Reporting, Capacity Planner & Insight, Backlog Prioritization, and Portfolio/PPM. All four modules run natively inside Jira Cloud using your existing projects and issues.
Which Jira versions are supported? Jira Cloud only. Not compatible with Jira Server or Data Center.
How do I install the app? A Jira site administrator installs the app from the Atlassian Marketplace. After installation, it appears under Apps in the Jira top navigation bar.
How do I switch between modules? Click the dropdown at the top of the sidebar and select: Capacity Planner, Time Tracking, Backlog Prioritization, or Portfolio.
Is there a mobile app? No dedicated mobile app - the app runs inside Jira Cloud's web interface. Mobile browser access depends on Jira's mobile web support.
Data & Permissions
What data can the app access? Jira issues, projects, worklogs, users, and fields that you have permission to view. It cannot access data you don't have access to in Jira.
Does the app store my data? App configurations (report setups, templates, portfolio filters, scores) are stored using Atlassian Forge Key-Value Storage - encrypted, isolated per installation, managed by Atlassian. No data is exported to external systems.
What happens if I have no role assigned? You get read-only access to all modules. An admin must assign the Member role for edit/create/delete access.
Why can't I see certain features? Most feature restrictions are role-based. Open Settings → My Permissions to see your current role and which actions are restricted.
Time Tracking & Reports
How do I log time? Open any Time Tracking view and click the "Log Time" button. Search for an issue, enter hours, select a date, and optionally choose an Account and Time Category. Click Save.
What grouping options are available? Group by: Project, Assignee, Issue, Issue Type, Priority, Status, Reporter, Label, Sprint, and Parent. Add multiple groupings for nested hierarchical reports.
Can I export reports? Yes. Use the Export button in the Report Builder to download as CSV or PDF.
How do I filter by billing account? In the Report Builder, click Add Filter → Account → select the account. Or use Group By → Account for a breakdown.
Backlog Prioritization
What scoring templates are available? Five built-in: ICE, RICE, WSJF, Value vs Effort, and Quick Wins. Custom templates with your own metrics and formulas are also supported.
Can I create custom scoring templates? Yes. Go to the template selector → Manage Templates → Create New Template. Define custom metrics and your own formula.
What is the Priority Matrix? A scatter plot that plots issues on two axes (e.g., Value vs. Effort). Quadrants: Quick Wins, Big Bets, Fill-ins, and Avoid.
Portfolio / PPM
What view types are available? Six views: Table, Gantt Chart, Graph View, Treemap, Pie Chart, and Board View.
Can the Gantt chart update Jira dates? Yes. Drag the edges of a bar to change the start or due date. The change saves directly to the Jira issue.
Why isn't my Gantt chart showing issue bars? Gantt requires Start Date and Due Date fields to be mapped in Portfolio Settings. Issues without these fields set won't render as bars.
Can multiple users edit the same portfolio? Yes, but the app uses last-write-wins storage. Coordinate with your team when editing shared portfolios simultaneously.
Performance
Why is my report loading slowly? Large date ranges with many worklogs take longer. Narrow your date range, reduce group-by dimensions, or filter to fewer projects.
How many issues can the app handle? No hard limit. Backlog tables with 10,000+ issues or reports spanning years may be slower. Use filters to keep datasets focused.
