Getting Started
Quick Start Guide
Get up and running in under 5 minutes.
Step 1 - Open the App
Click Apps in the Jira top navigation → select Time Tracking, Resource Planning & Project Management.
You'll land on the Time Tracking module by default.
Step 2 - Check Your Access
Click Settings → My Permissions to confirm your role:
- Global Admin: Full access to all features and settings
- Member: Can log time, run capacity analysis, score backlogs, view portfolios
- No role: Read-only - ask your admin to assign you the Member role
Step 3 - Log Your First Time Entry
- In Time Tracking, open any report or click Log Time
- Search for the Jira issue you worked on
- Enter hours worked and select the date
- Optionally select a Time Category (e.g., Development)
- Click Save
Step 4 - Run a Capacity Check
- Click Capacity Planner & Insight in the module switcher
- Click Analytics Dashboard in the sidebar
- Select a project from the dropdown and set a date range
- Review the Team Allocation and Assignee Capacity tabs
Step 5 - Score Your Backlog
- Click Backlog Prioritization in the module switcher
- Select your Jira project
- Choose a scoring template (ICE, RICE, WSJF, or Value vs Effort)
- Click any metric cell to enter values - the Score column updates automatically
Step 6 - Create a Portfolio View
- Click Portfolio (PPM) in the module switcher
- Click New Portfolio
- Set a filter (select projects or enter a JQL query)
- Click Save → switch to Gantt Chart view for timeline visualization

- Invite your team by assigning Member roles via Settings → RBAC → User Roles
