Cloud Migration Guide

Moving from Jira Server/Data Center to Jira Cloud

If your organization is migrating from Jira Server or Data Center to Jira Cloud, this page explains how Time Tracking, Resource Planning & Project Management fits into that process.

Important: Server/Data Center Not Supported

This app only runs on Jira Cloud. There is no Server or Data Center version. You cannot migrate from a Server/Data Center version of this app because no such version exists.

After Your Jira Cloud Migration is Complete

Once your Jira Cloud migration is done and your team is using Jira Cloud:

  1. Install the app from the Atlassian Marketplace on your new Jira Cloud instance
  2. Reassign roles - the RBAC configuration from any previous tool does not carry over; assign Member roles from scratch
  3. Recreate saved reports - report configurations are stored per Jira installation and don't transfer
  4. Set up time categories and billing accounts - these are configured fresh after install
  5. Import historical time data - if you have historical worklogs in Jira from your migration, the app will display them automatically once you set the correct date ranges

Historical Data Availability

If your Jira Cloud migration included worklog data, the Time Tracking module will display it as soon as you load a report covering that date range. No additional import is needed - the app reads directly from Jira worklogs.

Planning Your Migration

Jira provides official migration tools. For guidance on migrating Jira itself:
